Service Area for Alumni
Deactivation of DAAD webmail addresses for alumni
Unfortunately, we are no longer able to offer the DAAD webmail service (e.g. max.mustermann@daad-alumni.de) since 31 January 2026. The associated email accounts were deactivated in January 2026. We regret that we had to take this step and hope for your understanding.
Changes in technical, legal and economic conditions no longer allow for the continued operation of the service. As a result, the service was discontinued since 31 January 2026. We regret the necessity of this decision and ask for your understanding.
Since the service is discontinued, all accounts and their content are permanently deleted. You are no longer able to send or receive emails via your @daad-alumni.de address. Access to your webmail account and any data stored within it (emails, attachments, files) are no longer possible, and the data cannot be recovered. Please note that in addition to the contents of your email inbox, all data within the Microsoft 365 web applications (PowerPoint, OneDrive, etc.) that you have used with your DAAD webmail account will also be affected.
What you should also do now:
To ensure that the DAAD will continuously be able to contact you and that you can keep benefiting from our alumni services, we kindly ask you to take the following actions as soon as possible:
- Please check and update all email addresses stored in your profile via the Service Area for Alumni. You can log in using your DAAD-ID. If you do not yet have a DAAD-ID, you will need your PKZ (personal identification number) to register.
- If you have been using the DAAD webmail service to log in to “Mein DAAD“, please update your email address in the user menu (click on your user name in the top right → “Change email address”).
- In the Service Area for Alumni, please ensure that you have provided an email address that will remain valid in the future, as the DAAD webmail address will no longer be available:
- If you have only entered the DAAD webmail address so far, please replace it with another valid email address.
- If you have entered one or more additional email addresses alongside the DAAD webmail address, please check whether they are still valid and update them if necessary.
- If you have used the DAAD webmail address to log in to the Alumniportal Deutschland, you can update your email address in your profile directly.
- If you have subscribed to DAAD newsletters using your DAAD webmail address, please re-subscribe with a different email address. Your old newsletter subscription will be removed automatically.
- Please also check whether you have used your DAAD webmail address to register for any non-DAAD services and update those accounts with a different email address as well.
We are looking forward to staying in touch with you in the future.
Kind regards,
Your DAAD Alumni Services Team
